This page explains how School District 10 (Arrow Lakes) expects parents, students, and community members to raise concerns or pursue formal appeals. The district provides a complaint pathway through Policy 220 – Inquiries & Concerns and supporting procedures, followed by a formal appeal process governed by Bylaw No. 4 under section 11 of the School Act.
SD10 frames complaints as a process of respectful communication and collaborative problem-solving.
The district emphasises:
Parents and students are expected to work through the inquiry and concern process before pursuing a formal appeal.
The district provides a structured but informal escalation pathway.
Concerns should first be raised directly with the staff member involved.
Both parties may bring an advocate and attempt to resolve the issue through discussion.
If the concern is not resolved, it may be brought to the school principal or appropriate supervisor.
The administrator reviews the issue, communicates with all parties, and attempts to resolve the concern.
If the issue remains unresolved, a written statement may be submitted to the Assistant Superintendent.

If the concern is not resolved through the inquiry process, a parent or student may appeal a decision of a board employee that significantly affects the education, health, or safety of a student.
