Dyslexia BC

Dyslexia BC is a grassroots, parent-led non-profit organisation founded in 2014; the organisation works to ensure that people with dyslexia and related language-based learning disabilities receive equitable access to evidence-based instruction, timely diagnosis, and appropriate supports in school, post-secondary education, and the workplace.

Dyslexia BC advocates for systemic changes including universal dyslexia screening from kindergarten onward, a province-wide shift toward structured literacy curriculum, publicly funded and timely diagnosis, teacher training in evidence-based reading instruction, and improved access to technology and resources for dyslexic individuals.

The organisation helps families navigate the school system, attend IEP meetings, understand assessment results, and secure appropriate accommodations; it also delivers presentations for parents, teachers, and community groups, including screenings of The Big Picture: Rethinking Dyslexia and the Dyslexia for a Day simulation workshop.
